SYMPOSIUM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The National Hispanic and Latino ATTC in collaboration with its Task Force presents this FREE symposium with the objective of reducing disparities in the provision of behavioral health service for Hispanic and Latino populations of the region. This symposium will discuss the behavioral health and primary care integration approaches by experts in the field that will provide proven models.

The demonstration of how research is transferred into practice application is of great benefit for the participants. Identifying assessment and cultural considerations for substance abuse treatment to reduce behavioral health disparities will be an important part of this symposium. Examining the relevance of recovery in integrated systems of care providing cultural elements for the Hispanic and Latino client will be an asset to the discuss at this symposium.

The specific objectives of the symposium are: 1) discuss the behavioral health and primary care integration approaches 2) demonstrate how research is transferred into practical application 3) identify assessments and cultural considerations for substance use disorders treatment 4) Examine the relevance of recovery in integrated systems of care.

Also, the National Hispanic and Latino ATTC will honor Hispanic Heritage Month along with Recovery Month this will provide the attendees of the region with additional information to share with the Hispanic and Latino population they serve.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

All participants that sign-in upon arrival will receive a participation certificate for 6.5 contact hours.

This event has been pre-approved by NAADAC for 6.5 hours. Participants may use the certifcate and other symosium materials to apply for CEs from other licensing/credentialing boards.

The 2015 Behavioral Health and Primary Care Integration for Latinos: Assessment, Treatment, and Recovery Symposium Planning Committee is proud to announce this is a ‘green event’.  All planning and execution efforts have been done with mindfulness toward our environment and resource sustainability.  Symposium planning, marketing, publicity, invitations and registration were created paperless from the start, with this standard at the forefront.  Attendees and speakers are strongly encouraged to utilize electronic media for viewing hand-outs and materials.
